Cork Project Advice

So as I mentioned in my post about our trip to Napa, we decided it would be a good idea to collect corks from every winery we visited. Apparently this is not a very common request because almost every winery looked at us funny and then gave us TONS of corks...so many that I had to leave a whole bag behind. (It was either that extra bag of corks or a bottle of wine. Easy decision.)

Anyway, I've been researching some ideas on what to do with them. There are so many great ideas, and I'm pretty sure I have enough corks to make more than one thing out of them. I definitely need some help sorting through all of these ideas. Let me know what you think...

Cork Lamp

Cork Clock

Cork Mirror

Corks in a vase - a la Pottery Barn

Cork Board - and another cork in a vase idea

Cork Serving Tray

And just for fun, a cork bowling ball
As you can see, there are so many great ideas out there. I really need some help choosing a project or two. I have one bag of corks I want to make into something really special (something that includes one of every cork from our trip since not all of the winerys gave us bags full - and some are champagne corks which might limit some of these ideas).

Let me know which ones you like best!

  2. Thanks! The thing I like about the serving tray is I found a design that has a champagne cork in the middle. I'm liking that idea, but I still can't decide which one I like the most!

  5. I'm leaning toward the lamp and the tray - not sure where to buy a lamp like that though. Apparently googling "cork lamp" doesn't get any results. Any idea of where to look? I know I've seen glass lamps like that with seashells in them before. What to google...hmmmm.

  6. Ohhh and now I'm obsessed with THIS! If only it wasn't so expensive. Maybe I can find something similar with the glass inlay.

  7. I'm a huge fan of the cork serving tray and cork board. Will and I keep saying we will do this, but I'm a procrastinator! Good luck Steph. Can't wait to see your finished product.
