Pumpkin Glittering Party

While I was browsing random things online a few weeks ago, I saw a post on Lauren Conrad's website that caught my eye. I love glittery holiday decorations. I mean, who doesn't (besides the people that complain about the mess...but those people are no fun). When I saw the glittery pumpkins I knew I just had to make some.

I went on over to the Martha Stewart website for a little video tutorial, invited some of my favorite girls over for a glittering party, and got started buying supplies. It was SO easy. All you need is extra fine glitter (I got mine from Michael's), white glue (swiped from school), pumpkins (I chose fake ones so they would last longer), and paintbrushes.

(And maybe a little Cupcake Pinot Grigio and Skinnygirl Sangria - yum!)

We decided to do pumpkins of all shapes and sizes for a little variety. I bought three different glitter colors: pumpkin, copper, and bronze. We eventually went back to Michael's and bought two more colors and some gourds because we were enjoying ourselves so much: blaze and citron. The steps are super simple. Paint some glue onto the pumpkin (it's best to do it in sections). Use a spoon to sprinkle on some glitter. Shake to get off the excess. Wait for it to dry for a while, and then do the other sections.

I think they came out great. It was a really fun time, even though it was such a mess. My backyard still looks like a "fairy wonderland" according to my husband...but I think it looks cool since I, of course, love glitter. PS: My mom is one of the non-glitter fans I was talking about, so she chose to paint her pumpkins. Little did she know, glitter sticks to wet paint. Hehe...

And then you get to do the fun part. Decorate! I wanted to wait to do this post until I could show off how I decided to use the pumpkins for both Halloween and Thanksgiving decor.

The super cute baby in the picture is my niece, in case you were wondering

Happy glittering!

PS: I just found this link on LCs website. Evidently I have some more pumpkin projects to do next Halloween. Those are so freaking cute! I love the lace and the chalkboard paint.
